Meet your Mechanic – Mat!

We’d like to officially welcome Mathieu (Mat) to the velofix Ottawa Team!

As we continue to grow, we’re always looking for the right people to bring onboard. Mat has been a longtime friend and worked with Adam for several years – before the days of bike tune ups and velofix. Despite Mat being a mountain biker, and Adam being a triathlon, the two got along really well and kept in touch.

When Adam launched his first mobile repair shop in Ottawa, Mat was one of the very first customers. In fact, Mat actually helped build the interior of the first van (which is lovingly named Lola). With a strong passion for cycling, many miles logged, and a fun-loving attitude, we brought Mat on as our first ambassador. He road one of our velofix DIRECT bikes last year, and attended a number of events. You may have seen him during our NCC Sunday Bike Days, during our in-school visits, or at local races. Mat was always quick to lend a hand and he got along really well with you – the Ottawa cycling community.

As he was finishing his undergrad, we asked Mat if he would be interested in pursuing a career in the cycling industry. After a quick “yes”, a few months of training, and some shadowing in the field, Mat is now a Head Mechanic for velofix Ottawa.
